The Beehive Culture Worx is a film and arts collective based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Our work focuses on radical, collective, community-rooted film and arts production and education methodologies, which began with the short film “Die Matras” (2019) and the feature film “The Beehive” (2022), created in Kliptown and screened in the ruins of the historic Sans Souci Bioscope. We are currently developing a wide ranging film and arts production and education programme (film, animation, performance and other associated arts) in Kliptown and the surrounding Greater Eldorado Park, focusing on local sociopolitical realities, radical imaginaries, situated narratives, and activism through film and the arts.
