DOGS ON FIRE is an experimental moving image work about displaced violence in the global meat trade. The title is inspired by eyewitness accounts of indigenous peoples that were forced from their lands to rear beef that is then exported to European markets. In the accounts, they told of how the paramilitaries clearing the lands would throw their dogs on a fire as an intimidation tactic. Each frame is printed on household waste using the cyanotype technique, degrading the image whilst exposing the embedded yet hidden violence of mass consumption. The frames were then developed using rain water, collected on site during my remote residency at Cove Park, Scotland.
