About the film

Indigenous and Quilombola communities in the Amazonian state of Maranhão, Brazil, face multiple forms of ecoviolence, from cattle ranchers and soy producers taking over their lands to structural and political violence with police and state government systems working in favor of landowners. Using participatory practices, this film tells the story of two communities’ resistance to this ecoviolence.
